TPL Issues RFPs for Leasing Opportunities in Strategic Fuel Infrastructure

Transnet Pipelines (TPL) invites suitably qualified companies, consortiums and joint ventures to participate in a series of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for the leasing, operation and maintenance of five strategic fuel storage facilities across the Free State, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga. This initiative forms part of TPL’s asset optimisation strategy to unlock value from underutilised infrastructure, strengthen South Africa’s energy security, stimulate economic growth and expand private sector participation in the fuel logistics value chain.

The opportunities include the Bethlehem, Kroonstad and Magdala Liquid Petroleum Depots in the Free State, the Ladysmith Fuel Storage Facility in KwaZulu-Natal, and the Standerton Petroleum Depot in Mpumalanga. Positioned within key inland markets, these facilities offer investors a unique opportunity to enhance fuel storage, distribution and related logistics services while contributing to the development of a more resilient and efficient energy supply network.

Prospective bidders are encouraged to participate in the mandatory site briefing sessions at the respective facilities and to familiarise themselves with the requirements outlined in the RFP documents below.
