Transnet's eTender system – A successful first step
Transnet successfully began its supply chain management (SCM) and procurement digital transformation with the introduction of the Transnet eTender system. This revolutionized how tenders are managed within our Supply Chain Management (SCM) division. By transitioning from a cumbersome, manual process to a streamlined digital platform, we have significantly enhanced efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for businesses of all sizes. The eTender portal now handles over a million documents seamlessly, providing real-time updates, automated notifications, and simplified document tracking. This solution has not only improved operational efficiency but also increased stakeholder confidence and set a new standard for tender management.

Transnet Tender Processes
When Transnet needs to procure goods, services or works, it does so through one of its procurement mechanisms, usually either an open tender process or a call for quotes. Ensure that all information is completed before submission with the requested documentation. Transnet will assess whether your business complies with certain preset standards which are required in order to supply certain items or services. Regarding quotations, Transnet will normally approach at least 3 suppliers to quote for requirements or publish the requirement on this website and the eTender Publication portal. It makes use of National Treasury's Central Supplier Database (CSD). In order to be eligible to participate in Transnet's procurement processes, your company must be registered on the CSD.
Future Digital Transformation Journey Opportunities
This transformation is just the beginning. The eTender system has laid a strong foundation for future enhancements in supply chain management at Transnet, as we continue our journey toward enhanced automation and digitalization. Upcoming innovations will further improve procurement processes, with increased automation, data analytics, and integration with other SCM systems. These advancements will ensure that Transnet remains at the forefront of technology in the industry, fostering greater agility, collaboration, and transparency in our supply chain. The future holds endless possibilities, and Transnet is committed to driving continuous improvement for long-term success.
Fake and fraudulent tenders (RFPs) and requests for quotation (RFQs) scams
Prospective suppliers are warned that fraudulent Requests for Proposals and Quotations are sent to suppliers using the Transnet name and logo from time to time. Suppliers are advised to verify the authenticity of suspicious RFQs and orders by calling the respective Transnet Operating Division using the contact details listed below or on Transnet's website prior to responding to any RFQs or orders. Transnet will not be held liable for any delivery of goods for any fraudulent tenders or RFQs.
