South Africa is the world's leading producer and exporter of iron ore to the global steel industry. The Ore Corridor constitutes one of the two main Heavy Haul Lines in South Africa. Coupled with the Coal Line, it is playing a pivotal role in facilitating the transportation of iron ore, manganese, cement & lime. Spanning 861 kilometers on a single line with 19 crossing loops, the Ore Corridor stretches from Sishen in the Northern Cape (where the mines are situated) to Saldanha in the Western Cape.
This World Class Heavy Haul operation runs world-record trains of 348 wagons for iron ore and 375 wagons for manganese, setting a benchmark as the longest production train globally. OreCor operates a network of strategic depots along the corridor, including Saldanha, Vredendal, Loeriesfontein, Halfweg, Kenhardt, Groblershoop, Sishen and Upington.
The Ore corridor epitomizes TFR's commitment to facilitating the seamless movement of vital resources, supporting South Africa's position as a global leader in the iron ore and steel industries.
